@flyfishdelawhere When approaching a stagnant slow moving hole, try to make slow movements. The water’s surface isn’t distorted from riffles or wind, so any movement spooks the trout. I euro jig these types of holes for two reasons. 1, it doesn’t make a huge splash when the fly hits the water, reduces the spook factor, and 2, you have direct contact with your fly to feel the slightest take. When the water is slow or not moving at all, the trout are used to observing all food options that move throughout it. Sometimes they will bump a fly with their mouth just to test it out. With a euro jig combo, you’ll feel that. Besides all of that, a trout can NOT resist a bouncing/ jigging object transitioning across their feeding lane.
